I am originally from the UK  and I qualified there with a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy at the Centre Training International School of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I have now been in private practice for 21 years (14 in Singapore) and currently have over 21,800 client hours of clinical experience. I am also a US Certifed Hypnotherapist (2006). In addition to that, I have a Specialist certificate in Anxiety Management which I earned at the now-famous UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts!  I am also a Certified EFT (emotional freedom techniques) Practitioner (Level 3). Which I earned at the EFT Training Academy under Judy Byrne, an EFT Master. Judy was trained by Cary Craig, the founder of EFT.

Today I use the combination of my training, skills and experience to treat a wide range of life-limiting issues and you can view many of those conditions here. However, my speciality is treating conditions such as Anxiety and Stress disorders, as well as the many forms of Depression.

Hypnotherapy in Singapore is a relatively new and somewhat obscure discipline when compared to better-known disciplines, like psychotherapy, CBT, counselling etc. However, globally, hypnotherapy is well established and highly respected! In fact, the British and American Medical Associations recognised Hypnotherapy as an effective methodology in the 1950s (read more about that here).

Historically, hypnosis has been around since the 1700s, although it was then known as Mesmerism. The term Hypnosis was coined by British surgeon James Braid in 1842. And while hypnotherapy is an emerging methodology in Singapore, it is quickly becoming recognised as an effective, safe and natural treatment. As a healing methodology, hypnosis is very effective because it works at the level of the brain, the very place where problems develop, get stored in memory and from where they manifest as issues and disorders that impair the quality of our life!

About My Sessions

An individual's needs in therapy rarely run according to a specified time. Consequently, my sessions are longer than most, 90 minutes. There is built-in flexibility too because our issues don't run on a clock and all at no extra charge!

Because there are a number of therapy options for you to choose from, this section provides a link to the full fees page, which provides you with all the necessary information about the cost per session and the options for purchasing multiple sessions, i.e. is, a package.

An introduction to my therapy service starts with a Free Consultation. This is where you get to meet me, discuss the area of your life that you want to change and the estimated cost for therapy. You can also experience a personal demonstration of hypnosis. This is important because hypnosis is a personal subjective experience, so, naturally, it helps if you know what if feels like!

Following the Free Consultation, you can choose if you would like to proceed into therapy. Your only commitment at this point is to the first session. At the end of that, you can choose if you would like to proceed further and, if so, how you want to do that. All of this is explained on the Fees Page and you can view that page right here.

Payment options are by cash, bank transfer or credit card; your choice!

What is Hypnosis

There are many explanations as to what hypnosis is and no officially defined definition has yet to be adopted. Some say it is a state of altered awareness, which is kind of true but often clients have no awareness of what was said during trance; yet they were not asleep! Others say it is a state of heightened awareness, which cannot explain how changes occur when the client says they have no awareness of the hypnotic part of the session? Another oft-quoted citation is that it is a state of deep relaxation and while relaxation is very often experienced by clients, that is not what hypnosis is. Relaxation is a collateral effect of hypnosis, as it is of sleep. Relaxation is essentially the absence of muscle tone; aka floppy arm syndrome!

Hypnosis is a state that can help to make these emotional/fear system areas of our brain, become aware at levels below consciousness. It is a state that efficiently updates the way our memories express themselves and that, ultimately, changes the expression of behaviour!

The Station Blog

Over the years I have been studying the human brain, the way it works and how that can influence and affect the way we experience life. This is important because the majority of clients I see, do not have a mental disorder or psychopathology. Naturally, that means that a small minority do have such conditions. As such, it is the duty of the therapist to become the filter for their clients and refer them on towards receiving more appropriate treatment.

However, since therapy in general and hypnotherapy, in particular, is effective for the majority of conditions, the theme of my blog is mostly discovering the links between what scientists are discovering, relating that to the way the brain works in general but more specifically, how ours works compared to the norm!
