| Trans4mational Therapy Calming Life's Ripples
A Happy, Productive and fulfilling Life needs Balance & perhaps, more clarity?
SO, WHAT CAN THERAPY DO FOR YOU?
Balance exists in the absence of Conflict! However, within that balance we need both the positive and the negative; in all that it encompasses in the context of Life?
The Yin & Yang are a Universal emblem of such a Philosophy and many natural dualities — e.g. dark and light, female and male, low and high, cold and hot — are thought of as manifestations of yin and yang (respectively). One could also add Life and Death to the equation, as the one cannot exist without the other!
When it comes to Therapy, I believe it can help almost anyone make a difference in their life. Often it seems that people feel going for Therapy is a sign of weakness; or an admission that they are mentally ill. In fact mostly the opposite is true; in that a person who seeks therapy is aware that life should not be the way it is. That we deserve and are capable of living a fuller and more content life. For others it is just about making a good life a great one. Therapy is about helping people make positive changes that can enhance the way we live life; making it a joy!
It can help us improve relationships and teach the next generation better ways of living life. If we ourselves function better we can by demonstration pass on that functionality to our children. There is so much that we can each do to make our lives more happy and worthwhile; all we have to do is learn what it is and how to do it for ourselves? And that is where Therapy can make its mark!
And since therapy can make changes the way our genes express themselves, we can become somewhat genetically different. Since it is believed that anxious depressed people can have a genetic predisposition to these conditions, it naturally follows that such genetic imprinting was passed on by one or both parents. That being the case, we can genetically predispose our offspring to be calm, relaxed, less stressed etc. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_effect)!
I often wonder whether potential clients ask themselves this question - "what can therapy do for me?" Of course, for those who have an issue that is impairing the quality of their life, their overwhelming desire may be to remove the problem or symptom; pure and simple! However, there is another aspect to problems that the client, in all probability, does not consider and that is, “what is the emotional driver or need of this problem?” And once you have removed the problem, challenge or issue, however you define it, life is different - better? But why stop there? Very few human beings get anywhere near to reaching their true potential and EFT, Hypno-Coaching and Life Coaching are excellent ways to move forward once you have gotten rid of your life limiting beliefs!
Whether we are aware of it or not, all problems have a positive intent, which is basically to assist us to survive; and if we are still here then it appears to have been successful? However, the life or existence that we have may be a far cry from what we think or know we want! Therefore, it may be useful to understand that survival, in whatever context that may be, (life and death, survival of position, finances, face etc). has nothing to do with quality of life.... it's just about staying alive, surviving or maintaining the status quo! But we humans seek to thrive more than just survive!
Some of the questions I ask clients are, "What do YOU want from therapy?" and “what do you expect from me?” It is very rare that a client can articulate what it is that they want! However, they are usually very adept at stating what they don't want. In the absence of clear directions of what it is that you want, your subconscious mind will make the decision for you and it can only do that relative to the mental database of information and/or experience that you have gathered over your lifetime, most of which is subconscious in nature.
This is so because we attach meaning to experience; subconsciously. An example may be a small child who keeps misbehaving and ignores requests to stop. The parent then takes corrective action, maybe a smack or a raised voice and this often corrects the problem; the subconscious learning is that when I do this - that happens - cause/effect. The small child lacks the ability to rationalise or analyse the procedure so the subconscious stores this learning and derives from it its own unique learning strategy. But sometimes they don’t learn what they think you were attempting to teach! You may over react and then feel guilt and subsequently apologise, give them a big hug, buy them a toy etc. then they may learn that bad behaviour can yield some desirable results?
Another reason that we have problems is that the mind cannot tell the difference between a real and imagined event. Dreams are a perfect example of this, they feel so real, but they are pure imagination! One of the functions of being human is our ability to think and if what we think seems real, or possibly so, we can or will believe it and if we believe it, it can or will affect us as if it were real. And let's face it; anxiety is about the anticipation of a perceived danger!
It is my belief that what we call the mind is just a metaphor that helps us make sense of how we live and behave; or put more simply it is a way of describing how our brain works! Simply put, it is the software (mind) that runs the hardware (brain) and each can interchangeably affect the other!
It is believed that the human brain is the most complex organism in the universe and our ability to misunderstand - or not understand - how it works is an essential component that leads to dissatisfaction in life. It is this aspect of being human that Therapy seeks to address.
However, there are so many types of Therapy, that I am sure it is sometimes confusing to know which to choose? Sometimes a client may try several therapies and then find one that works for them. The one question that they cannot answer, is whether this therapy would have worked had they not experienced the others? Often Therapy provides a cumulative effect, as does life itself, and sometimes the learning or healing we experience is the result of a particular therapy or a combination of several.
Some people claim that they can cure or heal everything; but this is not possible, as no single therapy is a panacea for all issues. My own style of therapy - Trans4mational Therapy - is a synthesis of many styles; namely:
The ethos behind the Therapy is that it addresses the ways we experience and react to life! We are conscious, subconscious and energy beings, therefore it seems logical that addressing those three components of our being will help us understand and respond more effectively to the art of living! And it is an Art Form when lived properly!
To that end I offer an in-depth Consultation Free of Charge. The purpose of the Consultation is to see whether you, the Client, feel that the way I work will be of benefit to you. The relationship between Client and Therapist must be one of trust and respect. Creating an atmosphere that allows the Client to feel validated, understood and heard is of paramount importance; as is knowing that you will not be judged. So, no matter what the issue may be; you can be sure that I will be empathic, non-judgmental and above all compassionate.
Making the decision to come for therapy takes a certain courage and it is my respect for the Client's decision to help themselves that becomes the focus of the work we do!
Warm wishes
